Clear quartz given a shimmering rainbow or metallic coating by bonding vaporised metals to its surface.

What is Aura Quartz?

Aura quartz is natural clear quartz that has been treated: in a vacuum chamber, metals such as gold, platinum, silver, titanium or niobium are vaporised and bonded to the crystal surface. This creates the iridescent colours – for example aqua aura (gold), angel aura (platinum and silver) and rainbow or titanium aura (titanium and niobium). The technique became popular from the 1980s.

It's beautiful and genuinely quartz underneath, but the colour is man-made – reputable sellers label it as treated.

In modern crystal traditions aura quartz is associated with joy, inspiration and uplifting energy. As a modern treated stone, it has no traditional astrology.
