What is Vanadinite?

Vanadinite forms bright red-orange hexagonal crystals and is an ore of the metal vanadium. The world's most famous specimens come from Mibladen in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

Vanadinite contains lead, so it is best kept as a display specimen: handle gently, wash your hands afterwards and never put it in water or near food.
