What is Chrysocolla?

Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate that forms where copper ore deposits weather near the surface. Its vivid blue-green comes from copper. Pure chrysocolla is soft, but when it's naturally mixed with quartz ("gem silica") it becomes harder and more polished.

The name comes from Greek chrysos (gold) and kolla (glue) – a similar-looking material was once used to solder gold.

  • Light a purple or white candle and frankincense, lotus or copal incense.
  • Hold your crystal or rest it in front of you and breathe slowly for 5–10 minutes.
