What is Sunstone?

Sunstone is a feldspar containing tiny platelets of hematite or copper that glitter as the stone moves – an effect called aventurescence. Classic sunstone comes from Norway and India; Oregon sunstone (a labradorite containing copper) is Oregon's state gem.

It's not the same as the "Viking sunstone" used for navigation – that is thought to have been clear calcite.
